July 2007 Saskatchewan Reining Horse Association News
Time sure does fly when you’re having fun and our 2007 Jackpot Series is well underway. The June 2nd, 2007 Jackpot held at Willowridge Stable had a total of 62 runs for the day judged by Katherine Ball and was a great success. The next two Jackpots held July 21st, 2007 at the Braun Ranch hosted by Brian and Vicki Braun with 57 runs and July 22nd, 2007 at Whitby Farms with 71 runs hosted by Doug Jones also judged by Katherine Ball proved to be a great success as well. Unfortunately due to rainy weather the jackpot scheduled for June 3rd, 2007 was cancelled. Thanks to the judge and scribes who persevered through the heat (and wow was it hot) and the countless hours of judging.
This leaves us with only one jackpot weekend left this season on August 18th and 19th at Silver Birch Stables in Swift Current, Sk. hosted by Malcolm and Tricia Banks. We hope for a good turnout as we have been seeing this year with new and familiar faces as our association continues to grow.
I would like to remind everyone that the next meeting for the SRHA will be held Saturday August 18th at Silver Birch Stables at 4:00 p.m. after the jackpot. Also a reminder that this years 31st Annual Stakes and Futurity Horse Show will be held on October 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2007 at the Golden Mile Arena in Moose Jaw, SK with Don Burkinshaw of Sundre, AB and Lyle Jackson of Cochrane, AB as our judges. Deadline for entries is September 7th, 2007 (no exceptions). Jackpot Points and Day Standings are available up to and including the last jackpot July 22nd, 2007.

Reining Canada Affiliate Circuit
It’s hard to believe that it’s mid way through the summer already! I just wanted to make a quick note in regards to the Reining Canada Affiliate Circuit. This is Saskatchewan’s second year participating in the circuit and so far so good. Last year we saw some of our Saskatchewan reiners compete in Winnipeg for the Western Canada Affiliate Finals and even so much as qualify and go on to compete in Oklahoma City in 2006! We’d love to see that happen this year too, let’s put Saskatchewan on the map! For details on how you can qualify to ride at the Western Canada Affiliate Finals in Winnipeg, MB, held in conjunction with the CRBC, and even compete to qualify for your chance to show in Oklahoma City please check out the Saskatchewan Reining Horse Association website at www.saskreining.com or contact Holly Kowblick at hrg563@mail.usask.ca Wishing you all the best this show season, enjoy the sun and slidin!
